Cindy JONES

Kyoshi Jones has been practicing karatedo for 36 years.  She began her training in Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo in Athabasca, Alberta (1989) with Ellen Caouette, a Shodan student of Sensei George Manoli.  After attaining Yellowbelt, she travelled to the Bushidokan dojo in St. Albert, Alberta to train with Sensei Philip Watland (7th dan, Kyoshi).

Kyoshi Jones was examined for Shodan in 1993.  She has trained in the Kentokukan school of Karatedo with Kyoshi Watland and Shinan Donivan, Founder (9th dan, Doshu) since its inception in January 1994.

Kyoshi Jones became Sensei of the Wa-no Kaze Kai Karate Club in Athabasca at the formal dojo opening in May 1995.  For the past 30 years, under her instruction, children and adult students have attained Jr. Nidan to Adult Yondan Blackbelt rankings.  Kyoshi Jones and the Athabasca club continue to offer karate classes for adults and children of all ranks. 

Kyoshi Jones was awarded the title of Renshi in 2001 and attained Godan in 2002.  She was promoted to the rank of Shihan (6th dan) in 2010, and Kyoshi (7th dan) in 2025. Kyoshi Jones has also studied Muso Jikiden Eishinryu Iaido for 18 years with Sensei Bruce Morito. Kyoshi Jones has made numerous trips to Montreal for training camps, events, and tournaments. She has participated in Provincial, National, and International events including  Yanagawa, Japan (Oct 1998), and Montreal, Canada (Aug 2007).  Kyoshi Jones is an active member of the Shorinjiryu Kentokukan Karatedo organization, and a member of the Kentokukan High Council. Her passion is teaching karatedo to help students be confident and successful in the dojo, and in their daily lives.

Kyoshi Jones pratique le karatedo depuis 36 ans. Elle a commencé son entraînement en Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo à Athabasca, Alberta (1989) avec Ellen Caouette, une élève Shodan de Sensei George Manoli. Après avoir obtenu sa ceinture jaune, elle s’est rendue au Bushidokan Dojo à St. Albert, Alberta, pour s’entraîner avec Sensei Philip Watland (7e dan, Kyoshi).

Kyoshi Jones a été évaluée pour son Shodan en 1993. Elle s’est entraînée à l’école Kentokukan Karatedo avec Kyoshi Watland et Shinan Donivan, le fondateur (9e dan, Doshu), depuis la création de l’école en janvier 1994.

Kyoshi Jones est devenue Sensei du Wa-no Kaze Kai Karate Club à Athabasca lors de l’ouverture officielle du dojo en mai 1995. Depuis 30 ans, sous sa direction, des élèves enfants et adultes ont obtenu des rangs allant de Jr. Nidan à Yondan ceinture noire. Kyoshi Jones et le club d’Athabasca continuent d’offrir des cours de karatedo pour adultes et enfants de tous les rangs.
