MAx MASTROCOLA

Shihan Mastrocola began his studies in Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo in 1987 at the McGill Karate Club (Kibukai Dojo) in Montreal, Canada.  He earned his shodan (1st dan) rank in 1990.  From 1990 to 2011, he dedicated himself to teaching Shorinjiryu Karatedo at several schools in the Montreal area. 

In 1994, he joined the Shorinjiryu Kentokukan Karatedo organization, where he continued to train and teach under the leadership of Shinan Wayne Donivan.  In 2017, he was promoted to rokudan (6th dan) and now serves on the Kentokukan High Council and as chief organizer of the annual Kentokukan Fall Classic children’s tournament.

Shihan Mastrocola has actively contributed to international competitions, representing Canada as both a coach and referee:

• 1998 – Team Canada coach, Japan

• 2003 – WKKF referee, Portugal

• 2004 – WKKF referee, Greece

• 2007 – WKKF referee, Canada

In order to expand his expertise, Shihan Mastrocola has trained extensively in other martial arts like Aikido and Judo.  He also holds a shodan rank in Muso Shinden-ryu Iaido.  However, he remains passionate about preserving and advancing the traditions of Shorinjiryu Karatedo.

Shihan Mastrocola a commencé ses études en Shorinjiryu Kenkokan Karatedo en 1987 au McGill Karate Club (Kibukai Dojo) à Montréal, au Canada. Il a obtenu son Shodan (1er dan) en 1990. De 1990 à 2011, il s'est consacré à l'enseignement du Shorinjiryu Karatedo dans plusieurs écoles de la région de Montréal.

En 1994, il rejoint l’organisation Shorinjiryu Kentokukan Karatedo, où il continue de s’entraîner et d’enseigner sous la direction de Shinan Wayne Donivan. En 2017, il est promu Rokudan (6e dan) et sert désormais au Kentokukan High Council ainsi qu'en tant qu'organisateur principal du tournoi annuel Kentokukan Fall Classic pour enfants.

Shihan Mastrocola a activement contribué aux compétitions internationales, représentant le Canada en tant qu'entraîneur et arbitre :

• 2003 – Arbitre WKKF, Portugal

• 2004 – Arbitre WKKF, Grèce

• 2007 – Arbitre WKKF, Canada

Afin d’élargir son expertise, Shihan Mastrocola a suivi des formations intensives dans d'autres arts martiaux tels que l’Aikido et le Judo. Il détient également un grade de Shodan en Muso Shinden-ryu Iaido. Toutefois, il reste passionné par la préservation et l’avancement des traditions du Shorinjiryu Karatedo.
