Jeff Kilbourn

The London Ookami Shorinjiryu Karatedo Club was founded in 2009 by Sensei Jeff Kilbourn after achieving his Nidan with Shihan Manny Hawthorne.

After seeing an opportunity to bring structured Martial Arts instruction to a community-based after-school program, Sensei Kilbourn began negotiations with the London School Board. He was granted permission to offer Karatedo to the students and families in the London area.

The club was given use of the gymnasium at a highly subsidized rental rate along with the tremendous support of the principal and teaching staff.

In 2010, we were granted inclusion into the Kudaka Shorinjiryu Karatedo Federation after participating in numerous events, seminars, and tournaments hosted by the Kudaka group of clubs.

Beginning with 15 students, our program has grown exponentially with a yearly sign up that now reaches over 100 students with a varied demographic of children from Grade 2 and up to a large contingent of adults. We are very proud of the number of families that participate together. The growth of the club has included the development of numerous Black belts, the expansion to several other locations, and most notably, the addition of our first international affiliate - the Ookami Karatedo Club in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Under the guidance of Hanshi Doug Roberts, our group continues to grow and be an excellent example of a modern, inclusive club that is dedicated to traditional Shorinjiryu Karatedo.

La croissance du club a permis le développement de nombreux ceintures noires, l'expansion à plusieurs autres sites et, plus particulièrement, l'ajout de notre premier affilié international - le Ookami Karatedo Club à Hamilton, en Nouvelle-Zélande.

Sous la direction de Hanshi Doug Roberts, notre groupe continue de croître et reste un excellent exemple de club moderne et inclusif, dédié au Shorinjiryu Karatedo traditionnel.
